United Coffee Workers

United Coffee Workers (UCW) is a democratic, worker-driven community dedicated to building solidarity across the coffee industry. From baristas to roasters, café staff to green buyers, we share a common goal: to strengthen our collective voice, support each other, and improve working conditions through education, community, and collaboration.

Our Mission:
To create a supportive, empowering, and democratic organization where coffee workers:

  1. Connect with one another through community and solidarity.

  2. Learn through training, workshops, and educational opportunities.

  3. Organize collectively to improve working conditions and promote fair practices.

  4. Celebrate our craft, culture, and shared passion for coffee.

Why UCW?
The coffee industry is built on passion, skill, and hard work, yet workers often face:

  • Low wages and unstable hours

  • Lack of career growth or training opportunities

  • Limited worker representation and voice in decision-making

  • Isolation between shops, regions, and roles

UCW seeks to change this by uniting coffee workers under a fully democratic, worker-first framework.

Coffee connects the world but too often the workers who make it possible are left out of the conversation. Together, we can change that. United Coffee Workers is about building a fairer, stronger, and more connected coffee industry.
